Review of Youth Without Youth (2007) by Blackity B — 15 Sep 2010
Yeah, unfortunately this movie doesn't live up to its fascinating concept. There are definitely a lot of interesting things in it, and there are some beautiful scenes, and some great actors...but there is little concrete to hold on to. It's not just that it doesn't make sense, or that "it's a specific style the director was going for", but it's hard to get attached or invested in anything, because every plotline ends too quickly or transforms into something else entirely. Not to get too poemy, but this movie is like a heap of sand that sips through your fingers. It's sort of tickling while it's happening, but at the end you aren't left with much at all.
5.5/10, barely.
