Review of Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968) by Jason V — 28 Sep 2008
My mother insisted that I watch this film with her when it was on telly late night sometime in the 70's because she was too scared to watch it on her own. I must've been 8 or 9 years old and I remember that she was alseep just after the opening credits, leaving me to sit through one of the creepiest and most surreal of all of the Hammer Dracula films alone.
It's also one of the most artistically brilliant and inventive; Dracula is awakened by the blood from the priests head trickling down the rocks into the frozen lake into which he fell at the end of "Prince of Darkness.
" And the unforgettable final scene - the most truly grotesque ending of the entire series. A classic.
