Review of Down by Law (1986) by W. M. L — 05 Jan 2009
If T.S. Elliot had been a beat filmmaker instead of a poet, I feel this is what "The Waste Land" would have turned out like...reminded me very much of Italian Neo-realism, using actual locations and people off the street instead of artificial sets and professional actors.
This only adds to the rough, late-night, city hangover quality to this film...in the best possible way.
