Review of Double Indemnity (1944) by Jess F — 17 Sep 2008
My first ever black and white film. I told myself that I would one day get to the point in my life where I would be able to sit down and actually watch one, and what better film to start out with than â??Double Indemnity.
â?? I loved the typical film noir story of scandal and greed; which was portrayed beautifully by Barbra Stanwyck. Excellent filming and cinematography, the broad depth of the black and white film really added to the movieâ??s significant air of mystery and suspense: I was holding my breath throughout the entire movie.
I also enjoyed the simplicity of the murder and the not-so-shocking twist at the end; I felt a closer connection to the characters (which were also brilliantly written and what I loved most about the movie).
