Review of Double Indemnity (1944) by Dylan N — 01 Oct 2008
This movie would have been wonderful to make, spewing out classic dialogue comparing the smell of murder to the smell of honeysuckle (which, if it were true, would make me a cannibal for being an avid fan of Honey Combs) and savoring the glorious campiness of the story.
As a piece of frivolous entertainment and an glimpse into the stylistic indulgences of the noir era, the film is worth watching. As a a movie nominated for seven Oscars, it made me realize that, despite the looming possibilities of the Twilight Movie and The Secret Life Of Bees, movies really sucked back then compared to now.
