Review of Double Indemnity (1944) by Danny K — 30 Mar 2009
Pure storytelling mastery. Raymond Chandler and Billy Wilder hit the nail on the head. Oscar- worthy performances by Fred MacMurray, Edward G. Robinson and Barbara Stanwyck (and her wig).
I will never get over the waycigarette smoke looks in black and white.
To be honest you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone alive today who could pull this off. That's not an invitation however, any attempt at immitation would be an exercise in futility.
