Review of Double Indemnity (1944) by Katty M — 12 Dec 2010
Finally I saw this classic. Its on the top of most of film-noir lists or Thriller lists. Billy Wilder directs a screenplay by Raymond Chandler based on a James Cain book and the result is wicked entertainment served smoothly.
Amazing Hard Boiled lines & set pieces done with elan. Its just 103 minutes. Lovely. I read the book so long ago and I remember I enjoyed it thoroughly... and now the film as well. I was just wondering if the scene in which Edward G Robinson (A fine turn.
) arrives at Fred MacMurray's house is in the book or not?
