Review of Donkey Skin (1908) by Caitlin B — 03 Nov 2008
Jacques Demy is so camp that it sometimes makes my eyes vomit. That being said, I love the pain! This is an over-saturated, over-the-top, quite literal interpretation of an old European fairy tale. There is a donkey that shits gold and jewels = A+ for Jelisy.
For the king's white lion throne, alone - I give it four stars. It is a film for any kid [or 'person'] who doesn't want to marry their father.
