Review of Donkey Skin (1908) by Sara H — 28 Apr 2008
In Donkey Skin, there are the usual Demy touches, including a Michel Legrand score and the ubiquitous Catherine Deneuve, and visually the movie is stunning. Ostensibly a fairy tale, which begins as "once upon a time.
.." but descends into a pell mell of plot lines, some of which go nowhere, others of which make uncomfortable viewing, particularly the potentially incestuous relationship between father and daughter.
View at your own risk but not a fairy tale to show the kids.
