Review of Donkey Punch (2008) by Carl N — 08 Dec 2009
What a cheery little Brit flick this is. A low budget horror thriller. Just think shallow grave on a yacht. Three girls on holiday in Majorca, meet four young men who invite them to their yacht. What follows is graphic drug use and drunken shenanigans.
You will know going in what you are waiting for so by the time it arrives the tension is almost fever pitched. So we get to the rather explicit sex scene and one of the lads executes the perverse sexual act.
What follows after that is that everything becomes totally improbable, over the top and very predictable. The characters suddenly turn from laddish stereotypes to generally evil, devious and unpleasant killers.
With no real expiation? So what started as a promising film turns into yet another cheap shocker. I found myself truly bored. What a missed opportunity.
