Review of Doctor Zhivago (1965) by Ryan P — 10 Mar 2012
This is a masterpiece in so many ways, the structure of the screenplay keeps holding on to the story and made it interesting to watch, which I believe is not that easy for a film that lasts over 3 hours.
The sets where very original and gave a realistic look to the film, I think I've never seen a movie with better set decoration before, it was truely fascinating. Also a big benefit for the film are the steady camera angles, who keeps the whole location in its grip and doesnt miss out a detail.
The editing is done most professionally, it keeps the whole film together and makes it constantly look intriguing. If you combine all that with great constumes, top acting performances and the epic directing style of David Lean then you have one of the most perfect films ever in movie history!
