Review of Diner (1982) by Jordan T — 24 Dec 2008
I had heard about this flick for years due to the famous "Penis in Popcorn" scene and picked this up for $3 at BigLots; decent. For some reason I had high hopes for this being hysterical; it wasn't.
In fact it really didn't have any laughs and was much more serious than I expected. Each of the main guys (minus that tool Paul Reiser) are all going through a transition. They're not really that young anymore, but none of them have anything figured out and are content with that.
Each of them are uncertain and a little scared for what the future holds, but they always have two things; 1) each other 2) the diner. I felt like I could relate to the feelings of Stern & Guttenberg the most.
Plus, I also kind of live the night life with Denny's and my friends so this hit close to home. Aside from Bacon (who was real annoying), this was a good watch overall.
