Review of Diner (1982) by Jim C — 28 Feb 2009
One of the many eighties "reunion of old friends" type flicks, though this one is set in the 50s, Levinson makes the film fairly hard to predict and avoids alot of the major cliches. The ensemble cast is very good, even those whose careers as a whole are not of the same quality.
Rourke is a standout and executes the popcorn trick, decades before Dave Chapelle. The follow-up to the scene is even better. All together one of Levinson's best films and certainly Guttenberg's.
