Review of Deep Space (2014) by Blais E — 24 Dec 2010
One of the plethora of "Alien" imitators that glutted the 80's, although this is actually one of the better of the group, successfully melding horror & sci-fi into an interesting & effective hodge-podge of genres.
Featuring a big, spiny, tentacled, sociopathic cousin to the Nostromo's xenomorph, decently-executed special effects, and earnest acting played straight by the well-seasoned cast. Beefy, jut-jawed, perennial Russ Meyer fave Charles Napier stars as the world-weary cop out to stop the rampaging beastie, with assist from leggy & beauteous Ann Turkel of "Humanoids From the Deep" fame.
With lots of recognizable, mostly TV faces, and "Batman"'s Catwoman (Julie Newmar) in a thankless role she could have phoned in!
