Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Blais E — 28 Jul 2011
Super 70's Sci-Fi, pre-Star Wars, although a little hokey by today's standards, with some really cheezy special effects & set design, although it's packed with earnest performances. Detailing an odd, dystopian, youth-obsessed future where all those who hit their 30th birthday willingly go to their deaths, and those that don't are hunted down by "Sandmen", societally-sponsored assassins.
Logan (Michael York), a disillusioned Sandman, goes on the run with a fellow renegade (Jenny Agutter) to see indeed if there is anything beyond their very-sheltered existence and to perchance discover life after 30.
Featuring outstanding acting by Peter Ustinov, charmingly-effective as "Old Man", somehow the last survivor of the post-apocalyptic world depicted herein, and the smoothly resonant-voiced Roscoe Lee Browne, here unrecognizable as "Box", a cyborg-gone-dangerously-wild!! And the girls ( Agutter & Farrah Fawcett at her Farrah-est!) are great!
