Review of Decadent Evil 2 (2007) by Robert I — 06 Oct 2015
I didn't ask for much with this film... I just wanted it to be better than the first. And it wasn't. So the good? They sort of change genres to make this film more of a mystery. Sugar and Dex are looking for the new Clan Leader Vampire to use its blood to bring their vampire hunter buddy from the first film back to life. There's some attempt to keep this a mystery to the audience by supplying several suspects. That's good. This is also a true sequel in that it does logically follow the first film and references the few plot points that had; some of these sequels abandon continuity altogether so I give props if they keep it. The bad? The film isn't exactly interesting. There's a couple of interesting plot points, some nice character moments, but still too few. Sugar has matured since the first film, but again I feel her character is a missed opportunity in exploring her vampire with a conscience sensibilities. Marvin, their puppet companion, also feels wasted.
In conclusion, Full Moon... I wish you cared more about your movies... But I know it's all about making a quick buck.
