I love the anime and the live action movie. I like the fact that they didn't replicate the actual series, because the differences between cultures of Japan and the US are huge, and frankly I believe the differences needed to be there, but I am pleased that the basic premise was the same.
There where pacing issues in both the movie and the series, but they are both admired by me. This was an American adaptation, so I understood the fact that Light would more than likely be a white guy, but I am glad the cast was both talented and diverse.
