Review of Death Note (2017) by Ciani V — 07 Dec 2018
Its almost as if the writers and director of this movie didn't actually read or watch the original Death Note series but were simply given the premise secondhand. literally the notebook and Ryuk are the only elements of this movie that remind of the series AT ALL.
Light Yagami was the perfect blend of intelligence and arrogance. Light Turner is all arrogance and its honestly annoying. Misa Amane was kind of annoying but with her loyalty to Light/Kira it was tolerable, Mia Sutton is just straight up annoying and her and Light made zero sense together.
L in the series is probably the most complex character. He and Light are almost one in the same. Their abilities to know exactly what the other is thinking and planning are really what make the series so great.
this was all lost in the movie, I am a big, BIG fan of Lakeith Stanflied but him being cast as L just didnt make sense to me and made even less sense after actually seeing the movie, a bit of overacting on his part honestly.
they could have done better.
