Review of Death in Venice (1971) by Melissa F — 12 Jun 2007
It has a very minimalist yet impressionist even dream like quality to it. I like the book better and found that from a cinimatographical viewpoint, it has too many disturbing uneven zooms.
I don't feel enough chemistry between the Tadzio and the older man's attraction to Tadzio.
Being a Mahler fan, I love the philosophical discussions with the character who almost seems to be imagining himself as being Mahler.
It's a quiet film that is probably better with each watching.
