The tagline for this film is "See the movie, play the game" however, having already played through the first 5 chapters of Dead Space, there isn't awhole lot that you won't already experience playing the game, just a much graphic depiction of the events not already found in the audio and video logs.

There are a few noteworthy highlights. Firstly, the marker (artifact) is discussed in greater detail and demonstrates it necessities for stopping the alien plague. Secondly, we find out more behind the captain's death and why it occurred. In the game, you find out it was an accident and that it arose from crew mutiny, but the correlation between the events leading up to the mutiny and his death are better expressed in the movie. Finally, we get to meet some of the USG Ishimura's unsung heroes. Chief of Security Alyssa Vincent and some badass named Irons are the only interesting characters, but at least we know some of the crew had balls!

Honestly, I should have rented this. With only 75 minutes of movie, concept art, an "isolated" soundtrack and a handful of cheesy B-movie horror trailers, Dead Space: Downfall is a poor choice as a purchase. Also, you DON'T need to see this movie before playing the game, because the game is just better. Period.
