Review of Dead Poets Society (1989) by Keegan C — 26 Jun 2011
Excellently executed, this movie is a must see for all people in love with the English language and with literature (even people outside that sphere can learn some things from it. The movie itself is a conglomerate of philosophies and teachings about and in literature, drawing predominately from the poetry of Walt Whitman, some Romantic poets, and Herrick's famous Carpe Diem poem "To The Virgins to Make Much of Time".
Further it is an inspiration to any who want to teach or who want to write-this coming from one who wants to do both. This movie is also a reminder that we should be free thinkers and to challenge all philosophies thrown our way, including-and especially-our own.
So, in summation, if you want to see a different side of Robin Williams (which he executes extremely effectively) or if you want a little illumination and truth, this is an excellent, thought-provoking movie in which to find it.
