Review of Dead Poets Society (1989) by Seany B — 19 Jan 2012
First of all, I want to say just how great this film is. I felt it had a very powerful message with very powerful acting behind it. My only problem was that it felt unfinished. Normally if I feel like this from a film, I would ask myself as to how far this was intentional.
However, with this I feel as though there was emphasis place on irrelevant parts of the story, which detracted from the time they had in the film to focus on more powerful elements. It was as if the film was a skeleton, which is a shame as it could have been so much more.
That said, it was still a brilliant film, but I do question how much of my praise for it is formed from the amazing acting.
