Review of Darkness Visible (2019) by Gcuevas344 — 21 Feb 2019
Although classified as a horror/thriller film, Darkness Visible is not filled with the transparent and commonplace scare tactics typically seen in these movies. Throughout the film, Director Neil Biswas does an incredible job of instilling a constant sense of impending doom and unease on audience members that stays with them long after the film has ended.
The plot takes viewers on a winding trail of ritualistic murders and demonic spirits throughout the city of Kolkata, India, leading up to a graphic and unsettling ending guaranteed to shock even the most seasoned of horror fans.
This is a movie that takes an oversaturated genre and infuses it with unique visuals and plot devices to achieve the overarching goal of not just entertaining but creating something original.
