Review of Dance of the Dead (2008) by Sondre L — 11 Jun 2009

I found this movie surprising. One all the characters are age appropriate and surprisedly this very B story-line premise, the grave yard in the small town directly next door to the nuclear plant. leaking nuclear goo that reanimates the dead.

is constructed in an connecting way to the audience. the story doesn't drag it is in constant movement. its a great under dog movie and everyone in the group doesn't survive but its fun that you don't know who's going to bite it.

and when the bite does come, that it is a unexpected scene that follows. its the sameness and unpredictability and friendship camaraderie if you will that I like in this movie. for all the obvious b story plot and action scenes you suspend reality or the reality we know to be true and find your self believing and excepting the movie and with that you begin realizing that this movie works.

I like the grave digger he is the cool care taker of the grave yard. Who has been dealing with the undead keeping then in check until the prom when they decide that crawling from the ground isn't making the grounds keeper keeps stopping us so I know lets now lets explode from the ground.

that's when they over whelm him and eat the town converging in the end on the prom. The gravedigger is a cool figure who just wants to keep his job. kinda like the quick park attendant who just wants to pay his bills and unfortunately this is his job he hates.

it a cool shout out to all the nowhere jobs, for all the gravedigger and there no where existence's and jobs he is a cool representation other then the constant stoner dude or slow individual shown he is just a cool cat trying to get by.

the title of this is another stupid b movie and will get skipped over by most people on glance. in fact I had to get a recommendation about it to peak my interest in watching it, and was glad I did. I liken it to the title of that famous television show Buffy the vampire slayer.

the title alone cause people not to consider it seriously but that was a good show watched every season... bottom line loved the characters in the group loved the sci fi club. loved the band, the gym teacher, the cheerleader kicks ass going for the hearst.

you should not dismiss this movie.
