Review of Cul-de-sac (1966) by Mark S — 08 Jan 2012
Watched this wanting to see more of Polanski's early work and I wasn't at all impressed. There's a certain pretentious style to some films of the 60s and this has that in abundance. Some of the shots are nice and show there was promise from Polanski from the offset, but I think the story is a load of nonsense and the central performances are irritating.
It's been quite well reviewed by others but I'd class this as being one for completists only.
