Review of Crooklyn (1994) by Maya S — 09 Jun 2008
This is probably my favorite Spike Lee movie of all. yes its meant to be a mushy story about his sister when they were growing up, but it is actually quite a dark comedy. It is similar to Royal Tannenbaums in how the various relationships are played out.
I really love Alfre Woodard as the mother, it is truly heartbreaking by the end but you really get a sense of Brooklyn in the 1970s when you watch this.
