Review of Creep (2014) by Aïko G — 17 Apr 2016
Creep is a film seen from handheld camera footage, it feels like a homemade movie. That doesn't mean it has to be a bad movie, we have seen this in the past already. Mark Duplass plays his part very well and his acting is foremost the best thing in this movie.
Creep is weird and unsettling. But I didn't think it was scary, I wouldn't classify it under the horror genre. The obligatory jump scares are there, but they just aren't that effective and mostly feel overdone.
The thing that breaks the magic for me in this kind of movies is the fact that they keep filming even if they are in mortal danger. It just doesn't feel realistic. Watch 'The Gift (2015)', it's a lot better in my opinion or watch both and judge these two very similar movies for yourself.
