Review of Cosmopolis (2012) by Jordan D — 08 Jun 2013
An overally wordy and minimalist narrative that yet agains tracks the story of the yuppies against the disadvantaged caught in a variant of the financial crisis. Often comes across as pretty dry since a lot of it takes place in various appartments and limos, having various I know who that is supporting roles chewing on Cronenbergian odd dialogue comparing algorithyms and financial data to weird prostate diseases.
Biggest issue is not having that sense of impact or urgency of what they are seemingly describing in the outside world outside of a few passing shots of the demonstrations and the occasional bit of grafiti.
Might have been a victim of a rushed production or minimal budget but would have helped to have the surroundings expanded to create more engagement in the happenings.
