Review of Contempt (1963) by Paul P — 17 Dec 2011
Fritz Lang and Jack Palance are fantastic. Sad part is they're not the main characters in this story. Bardot and Piccoli are very good but there story and the characters they play are very bland. I loved Palance's completely over the top maniacal film producer.
Its said this is Godard's most expensive film, Godard says that's only so they could pay Bardot's rate. Either way the film is very restrained and by the book. The film lacks energy and it brings the film down.
Still it has some very good acting and the topic of selling out has some nice insights.
