New review: I'm doing this review again because I actually passed out and missed more than 10 minutes, so I feel like after watching Jim Mickle's previous films, I should watch this again. So with that said, Cold In Jult is one of the best thrillers of 2014 that keeps getting better and better for Jim Mickle's career. The film has some great performances from Michael C. Hall and Sam Shepard, and when Don Johnson showed up, he's actually one of the best parts of the film and brought some unexpected humor into it that's actually pretty funny. The first 20 minutes of it is like your typical creepy stranger film, until there's more twists in it that makes the film more refreshing and not a stranger film. The score is pretty good, and the characters are really good which I'm glad that Jim Mickle and Nick Damici still know how to write character. The action scenes are very well done, and the plot gets more and more interesting as the film goes on. Even though there is like one or two questions that weren't answered, I'm willing to give forgive it as it's based on a book, and I had such a great time with this movie.

Old review: Jim Mickle sure knows how to make great films. Cold In July is actually not a horror film which is what Jim Mickle usually make, but it's still as great as his usuals. It gives off many twists that makes this film very unpredictable but not too much, the main three are great in this, and it gives an awesome battle at the end. It does leave you guessing where's it's going, and it's got a tight script while putting in some unexpected humor into it. There's some slow stuff in the film, but it does keep you interested most of the time for the movie. If you're a Jim Mickle fan, go see this, just as good as his films, if not, better. Review Score: Four stars.
