Review of Code 46 (2003) by Martin R — 05 Mar 2009
What a surprise! I loved this film! It wasnâ??t exactly the Gattaca/Blade Runner sci-fi noir I expected â?? it was actually much better. The depiction of the future was very realistic, with languages and races melded together into one global culture, with no countries â?? just cities and business destinations.
Someone called this a kind of Orwellian Lost in Translation, and thatâ??s an accurate description. Itâ??s a beautiful film with a haunting atmosphere and a very soft and slow pacing, more of a mood piece than a plot driven thriller.
But above all its a sad and beautiful love story. This is a movie I'll be thinking about for a long time.
