Review of Cloverfield (2008) by Lisa Y — 06 Nov 2012
If you've grown sick of the found-footage gimmick before seeing this movie, I implore you to make an exception. Featuring a properly structured narrative with legitimate dramatic and comedic grounding in the plot, this 2008 movie still bests the majority of its shaky-cam competitors.
The actors deliver enthusiastic and well-engineered performances, and the cinematography is far better than is expected of this sub-genre, as is the movie's gorgeous sound design.
