Review of Cloverfield (2008) by Pedro T — 10 Feb 2013
I enjoyed the film, very much, but its not without its faults. As far as a genuinely tense, cinematic experience goes, "Cloverfield" is undoubtedly up there. It delivers on those counts, and I was particularly pleased that nothing was explained-it just is.
Thats a pretty brave thing to do with a Hollywood monster flick. However, what disappointed me was the revealing of the monster at the end. This is what takes it down to a four star for me. Its a shame they bottled it by showing the creature at the end.
As soon as that happened all the fear and mystery was destroyed and it became a very good film instead of a great one.
