Review of City of the Living Dead (1980) by Chuck D — 06 Jan 2011
Good for a single viewing. Set in a rich, monkey inhabited rainforest, This movie sends the most incompetent heroes out to save Earth from an unleashed hellmouth. The curious, child-neglecting, sons of bitches were moving so slow to defeat evil it's no wonder they kept losing their skulls.
The undead were superhuman, two-trick ponys with apparently just two techniques to dispose of pesky humans. I admit those techniques were cool as hell but very inconsistent, especially since they seem to possess the ability to fly and teleport for god's sake! Wait for the couple in the jeep; it'll make you puke your guts out.
Poor Bob, always getting screwed but not by his pretty lady friends or his special doll. Worth it for a few scenes of effects and that groovy, rehashed soundtrack.
