Polanski captures perfectly every aspect of the classics from the golden age of Film Noir. Jack Nicholson gives one of his greatest performances as Private Investigator Jake Gittes, opposite Faye Dunaway and John Huston, both boasting spectacular displays also.
This picture stays in your mind for a long time after viewing, and has just the right atmosphere to grip you like no other picture will. Beautifully crafted cinematography, legendary writing, heavily influenced by the work of Raymond Chandler etc.
, and in conclusion, possibly the best neo-noir ever to have been filmed.
