Review of Charlie Countryman (2013) by Lou A — 26 Jul 2014
It's always refreshing to see a film with a director that gives us their own personal, unique vision. This underrated indie-movie mostly takes place in Bucharest, Romania and vividly shows us the way of life in its slums.
Even when Fredrick Bond touches on gritty subject matter such as sex, drugs, and extreme violence, he presents it in a very artistic manner. But it all surrounds a romance that's sincerely written as well as acted.
LeBeouf puts his heart and soul into the conflicted and sometimes emotionally unstable title-character and Wood gives an amazing character-performance. It also has themes about taking risks in life, before it just passes you by.
