Review of Cesar Chavez (2014) by Joe H — 29 Mar 2014
It gets an extra star for passion and inspiration. Bio pics are never easy. There's always so much exposition that often gets delivered. I was really expecting it to be pandering and pulling at my heart strings.
I was wrong. I think Diego Luna has done an excellent job at showing us a complex moment in history. I found the film to be a very enjoyable retelling of this story. It definitely helped that John Malkovich played the "villain" in a realistic way and I enjoyed Michael Pena's portrayal of Cesar Chavez a lot.
