Review of Carousel (2013) by Meghan D — 26 Aug 2007
I just want to see someone tell this story well. The bottom line is this story has the potential to be the "greatest American musical" of all-time, but no one would know it by watching this film.
It's no wonder why people hate Carousel. The adaptation of the script it terrible, the performances are lifeless, the choreography is ridiculous (minus the ballet), and the direction is completely uninspired.
The only reason I'm giving it any stars at all is for Gordon MacRae's Soliloqy and the amazing potential of the story. But this movie is depressingly terrible.
