Review of Carol (1970) by Ethan L — 25 Jan 2016
"Carol" throws a powerful message and remembers the difficulties of being gay during the 50s in a magnificently directed effort by Todd Haynes, who is helped by a slow, sincere and lovely script adaptation by Phyllis Nagy of Patricia Highsmith's work, near-perfect performances from Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, Carter Burwell's beautiful soundtrack and one outstandingly crafted production design.
