[color=black][font=Arial]saw two horror movies yesterday... carnival of souls and Horror Hotel... both made in the early 60's. Both enjoyable... [/font][/color].

[color=black][font=Arial]basic plot: girl falls in river but emerges hrs later. doesn't seem upset that her friends are dead. continues plans to go to another state in a small town to be the head organist at a Church - although she is not religious. Arrives and starts seeing zombie-like men popping in and out of her sight. Turns out... surprise... she is dead. (that ruins nothing - don?t worry)[/font][/color].

[color=black][font=Arial]funny and enjoyable... my friend (used to modern movies) kept expecting to have something happen and it didn't - and she liked being surprised. only real complaint were the characters and a bit of the acting... the "main" guy in it was sooooo annoying - ego and stupid and just basic sleeeeeeeeeze and the girl was a selfish boring prude... [i]but[/i] [i]still[/i], it kept my interest and the plot didn't annoy me. the ending was a bit like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think when I was made it really would have made people question what is reality and how much can we trust our senses. Also, not sure, but seems like it might have influenced "Return of the Living Dead", which was made after this. [/font][/color].

[color=black][font=Arial]made a few yrs before in 1960. witchcraft and devil worship in a small town (whitehood) in Massachusetts. very hilarious in a waaaaaaaaaaay overdone, trite, annoying and cheap way. movie seemed to go on forever! and quite hilarious that the main girl who dressed like a librarian liked to lounge around in a black lace teddy, thigh highs, a garter belt and high heals. ha ha. she also wore it under her clothing. a few cleavage shots too... and before the girls were stabbed in the chest, their shirts were ripped open. ha ha. I guess the cliché horror movie sexual overtones and over-exposed heroines began early :) No soft porn. Just kissing.[/font][/color].
