Review of Carnival of Souls (1962) by Alex S — 08 Apr 2016
Great horror film that emphasizes mood over gimmick. Cult film follows a the sole survivor of a drag race gone wrong, prompting her to take a job elsewhere as a church organist and pick up the pieces of her life. But the presence of a creepy phantom figure dogs her, and it may be tied to an abandoned carnival.
Creepy film gets going from the start, and never lets up in scaring you by subtle manner. Definitely a Halloween movie for October if you're in the mood for a terrifying low budget horror movie. "The Sixth Sense" owes a debt to this flick.
