Review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) by Antony W — 25 Oct 2007
Some great cineamatography, as the film was entirely shot on Cephallonia, but the rest of the film was a let down, such a poor adaptation of the book, which is one of my favourites. completely Hollywoodised, and poor casting, Nicholas Cage? what on earth? Christian Bale was a bit more convincing, but if your going to make a film of a book like Captain Correlli's Mandolin, it needs to be done without mainstream hollywood actors to maintain any credibility.
it didn't even end the same way. dissappointing.
