Review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) by Tomi V — 06 Mar 2013
Although the cinematography and look of this film is beautiful, as is the music, the idea of using an American, an Englishman, a Spaniard and a Welshman to play Greeks, complete with ludicrous accents, was almost laughably funny, but worst was the way the beginning of the war was represented, making the Italian occupation of the Greek islands seem like just one long concert and lots of fun, instead of one country militarily occupying another.
At least the German occupation was realistically portrayed, but by then it was too late to save the movie.
