Review of Calvaire (2005) by Peter F — 14 Aug 2008
Comes across as an amalgamation of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Deliverence and Straw Dogs but without as much high tension or bloodshed as either one of those three which I found to be somewhat dissapointing after what I had read/heard about this film.
However it's dark and grim humour is something of a plus point, akin to The League Of Gentlemen at times with the Belgian countryside replacing Royston Vasey. Worth a watch if you can handle a horror film with not a great deal of actual physical horror to speak of.
