Review of BUtterfield 8 (1960) by Thérèse F — 04 Jun 2008
I really wanted to like this movie, and it did some things well. Lawrence Harvey was the definition of class and cool in the first half of this film, and Elizabeth Taylor was really good in some scenes (and looked like she was made for every dress she wore in the film).
But the movie really lost me in the second half. The acting went too overboard, the characters became unrealistic, and the ending was terrible. Also, this may be one of the most sexist movieâ??s Iâ??ve ever seen (Iâ??m not a feminist or anything, but it was a bit much for me to take).
