Although Liz Taylor just passed away and she got an Oscar for this movie, it's still a boring soap opera of a movie. You know it's a good Liz Taylor movie when she gets to be seen in a slip somewhere in the movie.

This movie takes care of that in the opening sequence. After she puts her clothes back on it goes downhill. The story is about the demise of a high class call girl. The character she plays makes a living being paid by fashion designers to wear their latest fashions out on the town and getting herself photographed by the paparazzi with rich and powerful men.

It was based on a real woman who drowned in 1931 but it's almost prophetic with today's beautiful women who are famous just for being rich and living a wild party lifestyle. Liz Taylor almost became this character in real life.

Since the movie is set in 1960 it loses the depression/prohibition era background. She only did the movie to get out of her MGM contract and go to work on the Movie Cleopatra. The acting is melodramatic.

The acting in a TV soap opera of the day was better. The movie was popular only because Eddie Fisher was in it and the Liz Taylor/Eddie Fisher/Debbie Reynolds scandal was in the news.
