Review of BUtterfield 8 (1960) by Roger R — 04 Nov 2010
Hooker with a heart of gold. How else would an actress score an Oscar back then? Taylor gives her all, and ultimately comes out rather persuasive in a movie that struggles to be persuasive. It's sole focus seems to just be teaching Taylor's call girl a moral lesson.
Boring. Still, Taylor's talents manage to shine through and though she may have been a more deserving Oscar winner for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, she's no less mesmerizing or pulchritudinous.
