Review of Burnt Offerings (1976) by David L — 11 Sep 2008

I seen this movie when I was a teenager. The ending had cold chills running down my back for a long time. The acting was superb. Bette Davis made the most of her small role. I wished Burgess Meredith (another of my favorites) would of had a bigger role.

If your looking for blood and guts, then this movie isn't for you. Burnt Offerings is all about atmosphere. It was great watching the transformation from a loving, happy family to a Family being controlled and possessed by the House.

I wondered if the final scene would do the same thing, that it did when I was a kid? Well it did, but maybe not as bad. Burnt Offerings is worth a rent if you love haunted house movies as much as I do.
