Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Scooter P — 11 Jan 2019
Amazing how much better a movie can be when it isn't controlled by the awful directing of Michael Bay. Transformers should have started in the 80s, when it started in real life. This movie serves as a great prequel that probably should have been the real first transformers movie.
It felt genuine, and mechanical instead of hyper speed chaotic action sequences that were CG on top of CG. This whole movie felt right, Bumblebee is the right vehicle, you get a really cool scene early on with shockwave and optimus.
The only real obvious negative to this movie is the continual bad and completely pointless soullness acting from john cena. Luckily, his role was not pivotal to the film and formulaic enough that it didn't matter all that much.
It was also nice to see a transformer movie not so spilled over into the comedic genre.
