Review of Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl (1919) by Kevin R — 16 Jun 2007
Haunting, beuatiful, tragic, a love letter written in pictures. Griffith shows why he's a master of movies, and Lillian Gish was never more luminous as an abused child of Limehouse. Richard Barthlemiss' performance as the 'Yellow Man' is refined and heartwrenching.
Goddamn gorgeous cinema.
